A “Geotour” to discover the UNESCO Geopark of Haute-Provence with a geologist!

During the summer holidays, 8 discovery tours accompanied by geologists are offered to discover the riches of the UNESCO Geopark of Haute Provence.
Visiting the UNESCO Geoparc de Haute Provence with a geologist offers invaluable added value! By exploring these unique geological landscapes, young and old alike gain a deep understanding of the formation of the Earth and its history. The geologist's explanations, combined with practical experiences such as searching for fossils and observing rocks, will undoubtedly awaken your children's scientific curiosity and encourage them to question the world around them. These rich experiences will help them appreciate the beauty of nature and become aware of the importance of preserving our environment.

In half a day, some gems of the Geopark's natural and cultural heritage will be presented to you. From the Quaternary glaciers which sculpted the landscape of the Blanche valley, to the route of the memory of the earth, a real dive into the Jurassic seabed, passing by the pebble route in search of the hidden treasures of the Asse valley, a total of 19 outings are scheduled throughout the summer.

AMBULO: an app for discovering works of art in the great outdoors!

Ambulo is a free application for tablets and smartphones, designed by the Gassendi museum with the aim of improving the accessibility of its contemporary art collection in the region. Promoting public mobility and green roaming, it offers routes accessible by car, but also on foot or by bike.
Departing from Digne-les-Bains or surrounding areas, these routes offer various ways to explore the collection, also offering a rereading adapted for young audiences thanks to guessing games about the works.
Four courses are available:

  • Go back with the flow and the history of the Bès Valley
  • Look for the unusual animals of the carboniferous forest in Vernet,
  • Alexandra David-Neel’s walk in Cousson,
  • Journey to the center of the stone.
