Théo Mathieu, mountain bike virtuoso, is a young 21-year-old athlete whose track record continues to grow. Originally from Digne-les-Bains, Théo immersed himself in the world of sport from a very young age, but it was at the age of 10 that he seriously began to take up mountain biking...
A Young Champion
“I started cycling 10 .
I first explored the many disciplines of mountain biking for 2 years before me launch into competitions 8 years ago, which fascinated me from the start!
I tried almost all the disciplines, downhill (DH) during the Coupes de France in particular, but it was in enduro that I really performed in junior and elite.
I have also been junior French vice-champion and I also won the regional general of Alps Enduro Trophy, as well as several podiums in regional rounds. »
From the Black Lands to the eternal snow
Not content to limit himself to enduro, Théo also launched into the snowbike, illustrating his love for skiing in all its forms. Théo’s journey in the snowbike is marked by its impressive performances, including a 5th place at the 2024 French Championship et participation in the World Championship. These results, although excellent, are only the beginning for Théo who sees immense potential in the snowbike for the future.
“The Chabanon station approached me with the prospect of a collaboration, which would be great for my training and the organization of events. Few riders have the notoriety necessary to obtain the support of a resort, but Fabien, the director of Chabanon, is enthusiastic about the idea of developing this project with me.
Last year, I was able to ride in the snow for 3 weeks while filming a video film. It was an opportunity for me to train and it greatly contributed to my performance! I finished third in the French Championship in 2023.”
Théo’s Haute-Provence
DEJEPS mountain bike in his pocket, Théo now works as monitor for the club MTB touring 04 and also develops its activity as independent monitor. It is also one of the Ambassadors de the Evo Bike Park, classified among 10 most beautiful bike parks in the world!
For Theo the three major assets which make Digne les Bains and its surroundings an exceptional destination for mountain biking are :

- Le trail network almost infinite allowing unique experiences
- The Evo Bike Park, welcoming amateurs and professionals in an exceptional setting.
“I drove all over the place but I always come back here! I love Black Lands c'est un legendary spot. And then, without talking about Terres Noires, just everything that's around, it's a beautiful playground and for nothing in the world, I would do without it. My goal is to stay here and contribute to the development of cycling in the region, including snowbiking! »
