This hike will make you discover different landscapes typical of Haute-Provence: scrubland, oak or beech woods, an abandoned village as well as some pretty viewpoints on the Durance.
Route details
Description
Departure is at L'escale, in front of the primary school. The trail first crosses the old hamlet of Cléments then rises towards the ruined village of Vière. Then climb 300m of elevation gain on a well-marked track. A crossing on the hillside in undergrowth allows you to catch your breath for 1km before continuing the climb to the place called "white bastide". From there, switch to the ravine of Barrabine, in the direction of Mirabeau. 1,2km further, the path branches off to the right and rises in the undergrowth to the Pailleroux ridge. It then descends to L'Escale, crossing successively a forest of oaks, a cultivated area, then dry scrubland, a domain of aromatic plants.
