Idea for a stay in Digne-les-Bains.
Day 1: Morning hike OR circuit by car to discover geological sites.
Hiking suggestion: Le Vieil Esclangon. Departing from Clues de Barles (30 minutes from Digne-les-Bains), this hike leads to the impressive panorama of the Esclangon Vélodrome passing by Andy Goldsworthy's Refuge d'Art du Vieil Esclangon. A fairly easy route offering beautiful views in all seasons.
Suggested circuit by car: Les Clues de Barles. From the town center of Digne les Bains, take the direction of Barles. After leaving Digne les Bains, stop at the Dalle aux Ammonites site. Continue on the D900A.
Arrival in the Clues de Barles, a magical place dominated by the mountain of China, framed by the admirable bells of Barles. If it's very hot, you can stop for a swim in the silver bed of the Bès or, if the season isn't right, simply admire the superb landscape.
In the afternoon, go to the Haute-Provence Thermal Spa in Digne-les-Bains for a “Relaxation Getaway”. This formula offers a bubbling bath with thermal water, a personalized massage or 60-minute facial treatment. Then enjoy access to the water fun area to end the day with complete peace of mind.
Day 2: Meet at the Promenade Museum in Digne-les-Bains, interpretation center of the UNESCO Geopark of Haute-Provence. The Promenade Museum offers a real dive back in time that will awaken all your senses! Internationally renowned artists have drawn their inspiration from it, such as Andy Goldsworthy, Joan Fontcuberta, Sylvie Bussières, and Agathe Larpent. This space for wandering and creating which dominates Digne-les-Bains from the top of its tufa peak is unique in its kind! You stroll along accessible and developed paths, punctuated by streams, waterfalls and works of art which lead to exhibition rooms where geological times are showcased: collections of fossils, tropical aquariums… More than 300 million years of Earth's history pass before your eyes...
With its developed trails (water trail, Cairns, ramparts, etc.) with different and complementary themes, the Promenade Museum invites you to a moment of tranquility and observation, but also of encounters, views, and horizons different.
In the afternoon, return to the Thermal Spa for a moment of relaxation in the aquatic area. On the program: fun pool, geysers, bubble bench, indoor and outdoor jacuzzis, swan neck, hydro-massage jet, counter-current swimming, sauna and hammam, Frigidarium, Caldarium, Tepidarium, solarium and bubble bed.
Suggestion: Overnight at the Refuge des Sources, a 3-star hotel completely renovated in 2023 located in the countryside, 800m from the thermal establishment.
