Géoséjour : retour aux sources 3 jours dans le Géoparc (Mobil'home***)
Program
3 days / 2 nights full board in the land of the Earth's memory, 300 million years of planetary history. Accommodation in a *** campsite in Digne-les-Bains, in the Vallon des Sources, departures possible every day from June 1 to September 30.
Come and encounter sites and landscapes that trace the long history of the Earth and (re)discover its evolution through the rich geological heritage of this vast natural space and guaranteed rejuvenation at the Spa Thermal de Haute Provence.
Day 1 Program: reception between 14 p.m. and 17 p.m. at the Digne-Les-Bains tourist office. From 15 p.m. installation in a mobile home in a campsite***, located in the Vallon des Sources, very popular in summer for its freshness. From 19 p.m. full dinner, meal based on local products and traditional recipes from the region.
Day 2 Program: breakfast at the campsite (terrace behind reception) and recovery of the picnic. Meeting at 9:30 a.m. with a geologist in the parking lot of the Digne-les-Bains promenade museum, guided tour of the park with its paths, gardens and contemporary works of art. Visit the Maison des Remparts and its exhibition rooms retracing the tumultuous local geological history. At 11:30 a.m. guided tour of the famous ammonite slab with a geologist. This site is one of the emblematic sites of the UNESCO Geopark of Haute-Provence, a Jurassic seabed which concentrates more than 1500 fossils. 12 p.m. departure with the geologist for a reading of landscapes on the heights of Digne-les-Bains, picnic at the summit of L'Andran. At 14 p.m. the hike to old Esclangon 2h30 (return) – 5km – 350m elevation gain + and the discovery of the Vélodrome Panorama, a surprising landscape structured by the meeting of marine deposits and the uplift of the Alps around twenty years ago millions of years. At the entrance to the Clue de Peroué, you will reach the abandoned hamlet of Vieil Esclangon at the foot of the Montagne du Blayeul, after passing in front of the Refuge d'Art du Vieil Esclangon you will continue to the viewpoint of Collet which offers an exceptional panorama of the velodrome on the right bank of the Bès. Return by the same route. 17 p.m. End of the day – Return to the campsite for dinner, free evening and overnight stay.
Day 3 Program: breakfast at the campsite, collection of the picnic and release of the mobile homes by 11am. Self-guided hike to the Saint-Pancrace chapel. 2h30 (round trip) 6 km 250 m elevation gain +. Departing from the Thermes de Digne-les-Bains car park. The path leading to the chapel is decorated with explanatory panels: the butterflies, the castle of Queen Jeanne, the Ophelia drilling, the black earths, the art refuge of the Thermal Baths, the aromatic plants, the oratory, the vultures, the Saint-Pancrace chapel… At the top you will have a magnificent view from the small chapel. Picnic on the heights and return via the same path. From 14 p.m. to 18 p.m. access to the aquaplay area of the Spa Thermal de Haute-Provence, indoor and outdoor pools, hammam, sauna (closed Tuesdays).
18 p.m. End of stay.
The price includes : Full-board accommodation on a campsite*** with 2 full dinners (a drink and a coffee included), 2 breakfasts, 2 picnics to collect at breakfast time. Visits accompanied and commented by a geologist (1/2 day) including a visit to the Promenade Museum in Digne-les-Bains, a guided tour of the exhibition rooms, a guided tour of the ammonite slab, and a reading of the landscapes . Entrance to the aqualudic area of the Spa Thermal de Haute-Provence (access 4 hours – Closed Tuesday). Tourist tax.
