Program

The Retrouvance® hike takes you along its mule or forest trails to discover a country that will satisfy your thirst for freedom, wide open spaces and encounters.
An exceptional pre-Alpine massif by its geographical position, impressive by its landscapes, staggering by the absence of habitat, the Monges in Haute Provence alternate immense mountain pastures, narrow valleys and forgotten villages, breathtaking viewpoints.

STAY PROGRAM
DAY 1 SELONNET (1600m) – AUZET (1250m)
15 km estimated distance ≥ 3h30 – elevation gain: +280m / -640m:
Departure at 13:30 p.m. from the Accordingnet reception point, towards the Chabanon ski resort. For this first hike we cross the Iroire plateau, a place with a remarkable floral richness, then the Col de Lauzerot, an intact pastoral area. Arrival in Auzet by a forest track.
Dinner and Night: Gîte du Serre located in the heart of the village of Auzet.

DAY 2 AUZET – BARLES (1000m)
20 km estimated distance ≥ 7h00 – elevation gain: +860m / -1130m:
Through the communal forest of Auzet, then by the Lauzerot pass, the route approaches us to the first summit at more than 2000m, “Tête Grosse”, surrounded by old pastoral huts. Then via the Col de la Pinée we descend to the Bès valley and Barles.
Dinner and Night: Gite de Gonin, in a site near but away from the village, we are in the geological reserve of Haute Provence, the largest in Europe.

DAY 3 BARLES – FONTBELLE (1320m)
19,1 km estimated distance ≥ 8h00 – elevation gain: +1130m / -810m:
A big step: After a short journey on a road and a forest track, we cross the massif under the Grande and the Petite Cloche, peaks typical of these reliefs. Then, by a path towards the Saint Antoine pass, the landscape embraces the crests of Conaples, the summit of Monges. This magnificent stage ends with the passage of the crests of Géruen.
Dinner and Night: Renovated forest house of Fontbelle, in the town of Castellard Melan, in the middle of the forest near the Col de Fontbelle. Presence of a rich fauna (chamois, mouflons, marmots and eagles).

DAY 4 FONTBELLE – LAKE OF MONGES (1550 m)
18,3 km estimated distance ≥ 6h30 – elevation gain: +1025m / -820m:
Another very beautiful day, the highest of the trip, with a 360° panorama over the Monges massif to the Écrins massif. Passage through the village of Authon, then ascent of the summit of Les Monges (2115m) by the crests of Pierre-Mont and Conaples which will take us towards this rewarding objective. Finally, descent to the Lac des Monges gite.

DAY 5 MONGES-BAYONS LAKE (900 m)
16,5 km estimated distance ≥ 7h00 – elevation gain: +830m / -1340m:
Superb panoramic stage passing by the Clapouse pass, one of the best known of the massif, and 3 peaks over 2000m including the Oratory. At the end of the day, the ridges of the colle dominate the valley of Bayons, place of our last evening.
Dinner and Night: Gîte du Château, located in the center of the village of Bayons.

DAY 6 BAYONS-SELONNET (1600m)
18,6 km estimated distance ≥ 6h30 – elevation gain: +1250m /-580m:
Our last day of walking brings us back to our starting point, crossing Grande Gineste and the mountain of Val Haut, passing at the foot of Chanau (1885 m) and Tête Grosse.
The shuttle is waiting for you at the Chabanon station around 16 p.m. to go back down toselonnet.

This program is likely to be modified at any time by the supervising professional according to the climatic conditions, the physical and technical aptitudes of the participants.
