Village of Chaffaut St Jurson
In the plain of Bléone, in the middle of lavender and sunflower fields, extends the typical Provencal village of Chaffaut Saint Jurson ...
Description
You will find a majestic cypress and a washhouse covered with Roman tiles, a XNUMXth century church, some beautiful local stone barns.
Chaffaut St Jurson was born from the merger of Chaffaut, Lagremuse, St Jurson and Espinouse.
The church dedicated to Saint Bartholomew was built in 1671, restored and enlarged in 1860.
The village has an imposing castle with its square towers. This castle is flanked by three large square towers (originally four) and is in the Louis XIII style. Built under the old regime, it is listed.
The natural setting is magnificent, with the mountains in the background, including the summit of Cousson, which culminates at 1516 meters.
The Pignes train from Nice to Digne has a stop at Saint-Jurson station.
Some hikes from Chaffaut:
The ruins of Lagremuse: a small path will take you to the old hamlet of Lagremuse perched on a rock. Lagremuse offers a beautiful panoramic view of the Bléone valley.
From Les Ragots, a path will take you to the village of Espinouse where there is a beautiful XNUMXth century church.
