Village du Brusquet

Le Brusquet is a small town located at the gates of Digne-les-Bains, in the Bléone valley, at an altitude of 780 meters.
The locality of Le Brusquet appears for the first time in 1050 under the name LE BRUSCO, a name formed from BRUSC (heather) and the suffix designating an area covered with heather.

The Notre-Dame parish church (1844),

Romanesque style church, is located in the heart of the village. It has two side chapels, the choir is housed in a hemispherical apse (on the outside) and with sides on the inside. The bell tower, built against the apse, is covered with slates. Seven stained glass windows are decorated. Two paintings (classified) were deposited as ex-votos, one in 1828, the other in 1854, after the cholera epidemic. A third comes from N-D de Lauzière, and dates from 1899.

Notre-Dame de Lauzière

The village is dominated by its Lauzière hill where a castle was established before the inhabitants descended into the valley. Today there remains the Notre-Dame-de-Lauzière chapel, emblematic of the village, and some vestiges of the past.
You will also find an admirable 360° view point as well as picnic tables for hikers.
Accessible only on foot from the village.

St. Maurice Church

A listed monument, this parish church (until the mid-19th century) dates from the 12th and 13th centuries.
Located in the cemetery, it is in a hybrid Romanesque style incorporating ribbed vaults for the vaults. The choir and the side chapels have semi-circular vaults.
