Village of La Javie

Charming village 20 minutes north of Digne les Bains.
Description
This village is famous for its apples and pears of old varieties and also for the breeding of Tardon (lamb raised in the mountain pastures).
The La Javie eco-museum retraces the history of the village. Next to the bakery, its modest door opens onto a surprising residence, where, for years, the inhabitants have been collecting, preserving and highlighting the memory of traditions and local history in the XNUMXth century.
In the 30s, in La Javie, there were 600 inhabitants, 6 grocery stores, 1 miller, 1 tinsmith, 1 cobbler and 5 postmen! In place of the ecomuseum was the presbytery in which up to 20 priests resided.
