The name Ganagobie derives from the Occitan cana "reed" combined with the adjective gòbia "twisted" the term designating a twisted tower. Another interpretation is the source of the mountain.
It was on the Ganagobie Plateau that a Clunisian Priory was built around the 2th century. On this verdant site now stands a monastery run by Benedictine monks. Their patient work with earth and stone has transformed this site into a true haven of peace. The Ganagobie plateau is known for its remarkable view of the Durance valley, the Pays de Forcalquier and the Montagne de Lure, a path also allows you to go around the plateau in XNUMX hours.
