Description

Itinerary from the village of Entrages (4h30, 12km and 500m elevation gain):

From the village square of Entrages, 6 km from Digne les Bains, take a mule track to reach Pas d'Entrages, then a path to the Hautes Bâties du Cousson (ruins of the old hamlet). There, you climb to the two peaks of the Cousson crossing a refreshing beech forest. After passing near the Saint Michel chapel, the path zigzags on the side then on the crest to find the pas d'Entrages
By taking this path, do not forget that you are in the footsteps of Napoleon who took it in March 1815 during his famous ascent from the Island of Elba towards the capital.

Saint-Michel du Cousson
Along this route, the chapel of Saint-Michel du Cousson clings to a vertiginous cliff. It is a modest building in the Romanesque style with a square plan. Its walls are massive on three sides, the wall of the thinner facade is pierced by two small openings.

A remarkable decorative element, a stone carved with interlacing, adorns the top of the door. During work carried out in 1983, the original was replaced by a casting. The facade has just been renovated.
The chapel of St Michel du Cousson is one of the oldest chapels in Digne. Its foundation dates back to 1035.
