Exhibition: Territory of transhumance

Transhumance Exhibition © Biegun Wschodni

A discovery of transhumance and pastoral farming over time, an exhibition that takes us on unsuspected paths...

Description

The UNESCO Geopark of Haute-Provence, transition territory between the Alps and Provence, is naturally a privileged space, attested since the Middle Ages for the passage of herds in search of green pastures. Whether it is local or regional transhumance, this link between the plain and the mountain, vital for the economy, tourism and biodiversity, is in full mutation. UNESCO's recognition of transhumance as intangible cultural heritage of humanity will play an important role in this transformation.

Territoire de transhumances is part of the setting up of "La Routo", an agritourism route in the footsteps of transhumance". This exhibition is built in partnership with the Maison de la Transhumance in Salon-de-Provence and the 'La Javie Ecomuseum.
