Randuro des Terres Noires (MTB route n°21)
The Terres Noires are a spectacular and unique site in France for mountain biking! Reserved for seasoned pilots, this technical and demanding route provides access to the lunar landscapes of this mythical spot where everyone dreams of landing their wheels.
P - Tourist office (600 m) - From the town center of Digne-les-Bains, take the road towards Les Thermes following the mountain bike markings n°21, common with the long crossing of the "Chemins du Soleil" ( ). Before the Pigeonnier bridge, take the D19 road which goes to the left to reach the hamlet of Villard (signposting no. 21).1 - Villard des Dourbes (970 m) - Cross the hamlet and continue on the track (no. 21). After a ford, it goes up to a path junction. Follow it to a new crossroads. Leave the "Chemins du Soleil" to go down to the left (n°2). The single track leads to a ridge which offers a magnificent view, continue on a descent with a succession of fast and technical steps. 21 - After crossing the stream, take the path that goes to the right uphill quite long and physical in a wooded area for 3 km. Join a track. Go right and, at the next crossroads, turn right again. 4 - 4 m further, follow the path which goes up to the left then crosses a track. The route alternates track and monotrace, crosses a succession of very rolling and playful toboggans to join the Grande Traversée "L'Alpes-Provence" (n°500). Turn left and continue to a place called "la Bergerie de Maurel". 21 - Bergerie de Maurel (5 m) - Turn right then the first track on the left. Immediately take the path that goes up to the right. The climb is quite long but rolling. Switch to the opposite side and take a fast and tricky downhill track. Reach the bottom of the valley and the departmental road. 951 - Take the departmental road D6 on the left to the starting point. This circuit is part of the "Domaine VTT Provence-Alpes". Itinerary listed in the Departmental Hiking Plan of the Alpes de Haute-Provence.
