The Departmental Archives of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence offer all year round, free of charge, in their premises or “outside the walls”, exhibitions, readings of archives and conferences on the history of the department open to all public.
The consultation of the archives and works of the study library is free and is done in the reading room, on registration at the reception of the Archives.

The evolution of means of transport during the 19th and 20th centuries notably transformed society.
The civilization of the automobile has established itself over time! A legal framework has been put in place (traffic regulations, the creation of documents but also the development of the highway code, driving schools, etc.) which is constantly evolving... And that's not all! The appearance of our lower Alpine towns and villages is adapting. From the 1920s, the arrival of gas pumps and garages and then road signs contributed to this.
